Woman nabbed for dumping her newborn baby in Batibo Sub Division, Cameroon (photos/video)

A woman from that same neighbourhood heard the baby crying and went to look for the baby. The woman found Valentina's baby and raised the alarm and the shocked residents Nyenjei rushed the baby to St. John of God Hospital Batibo where he is presently responding to treatment.

Acha Valentina was suspected of the crime and after interrogations the authorities, the married mother of 7 confessed to the crime.

ALL STAR HAND WRITTEN TRIBUTE TO BEST CAMEROONIAN VOCALIST LATE ''ACHALE" AKA STAR BOY

ACHALE aka starboy passed on to eternity on july 27 2016 at the limbe General Hospital. The singer who has suffered with liver cancer, the disease which has ‘claimed the singer/songwriter’s life’. He was the 1st winner of Star de demain 2006/07. He passed away at the aged 30 after living with the liver disease for more than 3 years.

However, his death came as a shock to most Cameroonian including his mother-like aunty Colette Bovelette who said it was a “complete surprise”.
Months before his death, Achaley released his last album Ebolo which has been hitting the air waves, on trace Tv and all other tv channels in Cameroon. Achaley a graduate from the university of Buea, released his first album feeling insecure which was a hit song in Cameroon. .He was termed the best vocalist Cameroon has ever had.A number of artist has pour out their grieve in their hand written tributes below-

On hearing you were no more, my heart pounded through my chest for it was demoralizing and heart touching . It is sad to see a brother like you die in the struggle of surviving. Consequently, with your sudden death, many people reminded themselves saying" any moment now my time could end as well". Your death came as a threat to many uprising Cameroonian artist if not that of the world at large.it created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the music industry like that of 237 and their neighbors . Your death created so much news on tv/ radio stations, blogs, websites, the entire social medias and even the streets could not stop talking about your sudden and painful death . This is to proof how important and promising you were to the society of the living. I personally feels the pain of your lovely mother and family as they Often cry about your death. Your sweet mother's números vídeos about you shows how deep she loves you. Oh! "God!! you were a lovely son, brother and friend indeed". Achele Danis Atem , is a guy who impacted hopes and great inspiration to many Cameroon uprising artist with great ambitions. He was one of those if not the first who first won some awards which many are even still dreaming of having.Hope we all know about that?... His voice and style of singing personaly move and imspires me if not many of us, with this i can say I have always been one of his fan. Starboy Achele Danis Atem, which i call "mr Clean" or mr "Nice guy" had no intention of becoming the bad guy which they turn him to be, his dreams and visions were that of being an exemplary figure in his field of inspirations but in life shits do happen and we all grief for that. My dear friend and brother s in the same course , there is much love in our hearts for you as you go in-front of us but as you go just know i #Nerish_clin and us all would always think of you specially with the sweet melodies and messages you have left behind, for they would save as a medium of interacting with you again.Our prayers for you is.

Tragic Highway Accident Leaves Dozen Dead On The Douala-Bafoussam Highway Today

A 70 seater bus belonging to l'agence AVENIR travelling from Douala to the West region of Cameroon today collided with a truck, 12 people died at the spot while many wounded were rushed to the local hospital according to eye witness reports and local hospital officials.The accident occured between Kompina and Kombe popularly called Carrefour Penda Mboko.The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

Cameroon Musician Fights for Albino Rights

YAOUNDE — As an albino, Cameroonian musician Mengue Ondou Etienne faced resistance when he first took to the stage 30 years ago. But now he is being honored as a trailblazer in the fight to end discrimination against albinos in Cameroon.

Etienne, better known by his stage name Calvino, uses the mvet, a traditional musical instrument popular among the Fang people of Cameroon, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea to thrill his audience in the Equato-Guinean capital, Malabo.

He has been invited here by artists from the three countries in recognition of his work to dispel myths about albinos.

Ostracized, harassed

Calvino says like other albinos, he grew up ostracized and harassed. At the age of 15 he ran to a policeman for protection and the policeman called him evil. That was when he says he made the decision to use his voice for change.

He says he would board a taxi or a public bus and people would get off in protest because of his color. He created an association for the defense of albinos called ASMODISSA. He says he also wrote to the Malian-born singer Salif Keita with the idea of creating a broader network and together they founded SOS Albinos.

In Cameroon, members of some ethnic groups kill albinos to appease the gods when there are natural calamities. Albinos can also be barred from appearing in public in some areas. Calvino says such perceptions are now changing.

Performance is key

A key part of his activism has been performing at schools.

He says before, albinos with bad eyesight were kept on back benches in classrooms, but recently the government of Cameroon has been asking teachers to make text bigger so albino children can read alongside other children.

Fifteen-year old albino Collette Manga saw Calvino sing at her school when she was young and it encouraged her to stay in school.

"I was not ashamed to go in front of the board to take my notes," said Manga. "Some of my friends just shout that ho move there, move there with those eyes which do not see. It is from that time that I look at myself and said really? But in other circumstances I am not taking myself like a different person. I am seeing myself as a black person, like a human being. In fact, it is a gift from God. We have to accept ourselves like that."

Results

Cameroonian social worker Awemo Patrick says Calvino has had an impact.

"I mean the people in Cameroon who matter are now giving albinos the position they deserve in the society meaning if you are an albino, you are going to school, you deserve a job," said Patrick. "They give you the rightful position which you deserve. Through his music, the songs, the message is going across and the authorities are taking it seriously.”
Calvino says the number of albinos graduating from university is gradually increasing and fewer albino babies are being killed, but he will continue his fight against social injustice.
